Looking Ahead

Nests with Sun

If you’re like me, you’ve spent a fair bit of time on social media lately. It’s a mixed bag of positivity, freaking out, and questioning other people’s actions. While it’s easy to dismiss it as a horror show and terrible for our well-being, when people share a new baby in the family or getting a puppy/kitten/baby chicks, you know that we really are a genuinely hopeful bunch looking towards the future.

I thought that rather than blather on, I’d share some of my favorite things that have popped up in the past two weeks. Things that might not have been made or noticed if we weren’t in our current mode of operation. The creativity and humor behind much of this is soothing to the soul.

I wish I could say that my family weathers time together so creatively, but alas, we’ve been spending a lot of time in our house practicing social distancing and going for lots of walks. We do what we have to do.

I did start printing the nests - trying out some new ideas and playing with color, and it was the first time I’ve felt normal in this entire season of crazy. One friend called it The Pause, and it does feel a bit like the button is jammed and pressing the play button isn’t working. I’ve tried to be gentle with myself, but harsher measures might need to be employed.

Maybe tomorrow.
