Sun Prints and the Next Class

I'm so annoyed with myself for not getting pictures of all of the fabulous t-shirts that came out of our first class.  If your kids are wearing their shirts, please, please snap a pic and send it to me!  Here is one mid process: 

Savannah's tee sported a snowflake courtesy of her talented mama.

I did get a shot of the many paper prints we did so that the kids could see how different shapes looked on paper before they did their shirts.

If you want to do your own sun prints at home, Amazon sells the paper and the chemicals.  For the t-shirts, I mixed small amounts in spray bottles and sprayed on the fabric.  I definitely plan to do t-shirts again.  We found that cutting shapes out of contact paper made for really crisp prints.  Fun stuff.  The foam letters that you can buy at Michael's were also useful.

Tuesday's class will be string art.  We're going to go three dimensional on this, using wood blocks and nails to wrap the string.  The MiMBY Girl and I tried it out:

Tiny butterfly

Proportionally challenged sailboat.

They are fiddly but fun.  Larger shapes and less nails make for a more relaxing process. The butterfly was really small and difficult to wrap, but the MiMBY Girl was pleased with her effort and wants to do more.
